MPs joined tube workers, passengers and campaign groups at a rally outside parliament on 15 February 2014 to oppose the Mayor of London’s decision yesterday to close every single London underground ticket office. The Rally preceded a special parliamentary debate secured by the RMT Parliamentary convenor John McDonnell MP.
Mr McDonnell said “many MPs are expressing their concern at these drastic cuts in staffing. They know that this will not only undermine the quality of the service but will also increase the risk to passengers travelling on our network. We are urging the Mayor to see sense and pull back from this attack on our members jobs and on the travelling public.”
