Over 21,000 signatures to Keep East Coast Main Line Public
|Action for Rail joined forces with the campaign groups We Own It and Bring Back British Rail on Friday 18 October 2013 to protest against government plans to re-privatise the East Coast Mainline.

A petition signed by over 21,000 people, calling for the East Coast Main Line to remain in public hands, was handed into the Department for Transport by shadow rail minister Lilian Greenwood and Green MP Caroline Lucas.

Thanks to everyone who attended the protest and to We Own It for organising the petition. Friday’s event was covered by the Guardian, Press Association, ITN and various regional media.
RMT General Secretary Bob Crow, TSSA General Secretary Manuel Cortes and Cat Hobbs from We Own It all addressed campaigners on the need to keep the East Coast public.
