Campaign events: Stop London Transport cuts

Demonstration opposite Parliament

Wednesday 15th January 2014 (10.00am – 11.00am, Old Palace Yard)

Public Meeting

Thursday 16th January (6.30pm, Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, Holborn)

Speakers: Bob Crow (RMT General Secretary), Manuel Cortes (TSSA General Secretary), Jeremy Corbyn MP, Lianna Etkind, (Transport for All), Ciara Doyle (Disabled People against the Cuts), Ron Douglas (President, National Pensioners Convention), Jenny Jones (Greater London Assembly Member.)

Tube workers have been praised for the job they do in keeping the London Underground running; they were rightly thanked for the role they played in ensuring the Olympics were a success; and they were rightly lauded for their bravery during the terrorist attacks.

Now show your support for a properly staffed Tube.

The Mayor of London proposes to axe 1000 frontline station staff. This will include the closure of all ticket offices and the removal of supervisors from stations.

The cuts will be hugely detrimental to the service provided to passengers and will threaten the safety of passengers.

In support of the campaign to defend services on London Underground, John McDonnell MP has secured a special debate in Parliament on Wednesday 15th January, please contact your MP to ask them to attend.  There will also be a demonstration outside Parliament on the same day, 10.00am -11.00am. If you are free please try and attend and let MPs know that you are opposed to the Government and Mayor’s cuts to London Transport.

Then the following day on 16th January, there will be a public meeting opposing the plans. Again if you are free please try to attend this important meeting.

Thank you for your support.
