800 rail jobs at risk on West Coast – get your MP to act

More than 800 jobs are ast risk on the West Coast Main Line with proposals for the removal of catering services from trains as part of the new franchise agreement.

Fleet maintenace group Alstom West Coast Traincare has confirmed that discussions have been had with the four franchise bidders for the new service about replacing on-board shops and catering facilities with 20 additional seats.

We are calling on all four franchise bidders to guarantee that they will not rip out catering, shops and other facilities.

Gerald Kaufman MP has tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament calling for the government and franchise bidders to reassure passengers that this will not happen.
